Moulsham Junior School

It is our INTENT at Moulsham Junior School to inspire a natural curiosity about Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We want children to enjoy and love learning about history by gaining knowledge and skills, not just through experiences in the classroom, but also with the use of educational visits. Through immersive learning opportunities, such as three generational lessons as entry and exit points, children will be kept engaged and enthused in each topic by participating in realistic experiences. In ensuring high standards of teaching and learning in history, we IMPLEMENT a curriculum that is progressive throughout the whole school. Cross curricular outcomes in history are specifically  planned for. By linking learning to a range of​​​​​​​ topics, children have many opportunities to investigate and interpret the past, understand chronology, build an overview of Britain’s past as well as that of the wider world. The IMPACT of the history curriculum will encourage analytical thinking and questioning which will aid understanding and create independent, inquisitive learners. Through this study pupils learn to weigh evidence and develop perspective and judgement. Regular history based homework projects also provide further relevant and contextual learning, engaging members from outside of school in the pupil’s school work.​​​​​​​
